My Love for Swimming and Why I Want to Join the Club Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm 12 years old. I'm writing this essay to tell you all about my deep passion for swimming and why I really hope you'll let me join your awesome swimming club.
I've loved being in the water for as long as I can remember. When I was a tiny baby, my parents tell me I would squeal with delight during bath time, splashing around joyfully. As soon as I was old enough for swimming lessons, my mom signed me up. I can still remember my first lesson, being gently guided through the warm pool waters by my kind instructor Miss Sarah. I was a little nervous at first, but quickly felt right at home in the water. It was like being wrapped in a warm, comforting hug.
From that day on, I was hooked! Swimming quickly became my favorite activity. I looked forward to my weekly lessons more than anything. While other kids complained about having to go, I bounded to the pool with a huge smile, ready to learn new skills. As I got older, I graduated through the different levels, going from a timid beginner to a confident swimmer able to do freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, you name it!
Nowadays, swimming is far more than just an activity to me. It's a true passion, a love, a lifestyle. Whenever I'm feeling stressed, anxious, or just plain blah, I know a nice swim will instantly lift my mood. There's something so peaceful about being surrounded by cool water, the outside world temporarily blocked out. It's just me, my thoughts, and the gentle lap of the waves. My favorite moments are when I dive beneath the surface and the muffled underwater world consumes me. The silence is beautiful, tranquil. All my worries and cares instantly melt away. I love the feelings of strength and empowerment swimming gives me too. Slicing through the water with powerful strokes, feeling my muscles working hard, I'm amazed by what my body can do. The water provides the perfect resistance for exercises that leave me feeling like an unstoppable force! And let's be honest, having a swimmer's toned physique isn't too shabby either. The other kids at school are always commenting on my athletic build.
But swimming is so much more than just looking good on the outside. It's taught me incredible life lessons about perseverance, discipline, and resiliency. Let me tell you, mastering complicated swimming techniques is no easy feat! It takes countless hours of focused practice, tweaking your form bit
by bit, and pulling yourself up after countless failed attempts. Whenever I finally nail a challenging new skill after weeks of work, I feel like I can conquer the world.
Those lessons of perseverance apply far beyond the pool as well. I've taken them into all areas of my life, from academics to friendships. If I'm struggling in a class, I know I just have to buckle down, study hard, and trust that my efforts will pay off, just like they did when I was first learning the butterfly stroke. Tackling big life challenges doesn't seem so daunting when I remember how I overcame all those struggles in the water. Speaking of life outside the pool, joining your club would be a dream come true for me socially as well. I already love swimming so much on its own. But being part of a community, having awesome friends who share my passion, going on team trips and bonding over our sport? That would be the ultimate experience! I'm a super loyal friend who takes a team mentality very seriously. I'll support my teammates 100% and always be there to lend an ear or encouraging word when they need it. Plus I make a mean baked good for Team Snack Days!
So in summary, swimming isn't just an activity for me, it's my absolute obsession and labor of love. I eat, sleep, and breathe this sport (though thankfully not literally while underwater!). I've
put in countless hours of hard work and dedication to swimming throughout my childhood. And now, at age 12, I'm truly ready to take it to the next level by joining this elite club and team. I have so much more to learn and grow surrounded by coaches and teammates at the top of their game.
Please let me be a part of this incredible community. I can assure you I'll be the most passionate, committed, and hardworking swimmer and teammate you've ever had!
Swimming is my life's calling and being on this team would truly allow me to flourish and achieve my full potential in the sport I love more than anything. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good news!
Thanks so much for your consideration. Swim on, Emily
